IDA ALBO - Owner - Hotel Fort Garry
Ida Albo shares how she'd spend her perfect Saturday in Winnipeg - and funnily enough, it pretty much corresponds to her typical Saturday...

On my ideal Saturday, I start by toasting rye bread from Tall Grass Prairie Bakery, and reading both the National Post and the Winnipeg Free Press—I like to get through both of them. The Globe and Mail I leave for Sunday, or else I have no news left for the weekend!

Weather permitting, I take a long walk from my home in Crescentwood to Moksha Yoga Winnipeg on Donald Street, for my hot yoga class. Coffee usually accompanies me on the journey.

After yoga, I have a sushi lunch with the kids—17 and 11 years of age, respectively—at either Yujiro on Academy or Wasabi on Osborne. I’m not able to name a favourite dish—we always order so much, and it’s all so goooood.

Saturday afternoon is the ideal errand running and shopping time, the latter usually being done with the kids.

On an ideal Saturday, I’d at this point fit in a last-minute treatment at Ten Spa, since I don’t always book treatments in advance.

The rest of the afternoon is spent reading cookbooks on the porch.

The capper for the day is dinner out, usually at Tre Visi on McDermot Ave., then off to a movie, most likely at the Empire Grant Park 8 Cinemas; only sometimes do we stay in.
