Editor's Persp Summer 09
Written by Lindsay Duke
A mom who has created a comforting community for parents of children suffering from severe allergies, a young woman who exudes grace and compassion through simple acts of kindness in times of others’ despair, an unofficial ambassador to our city, an energetic senior who lends a hand wherever she can with an amazingly positive attitude, and an addictions support worker who has touched the lives of hundreds of recovering youths while struggling with her own health issues—these women are all inspirations, and together are an amazing representation of our city. You can read their stories online here.
More Winnipeg women who are making a difference in our community are the folks at Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build program. With the help of many volunteers, they will create 11 new homes for families that otherwise would not be able to afford them this year. Learn more about their good work in this issue’s community feature.
Finally, what would a summer issue be without a tribute to outdoor living? In our revamped Dream Spaces section we show you our favourite tools for the garden, our fitness story features cheap tricks for getting in shape while enjoying the city’s outdoor offerings, and on our fashion pages, a rainbow of fun summer accessories.
