When we were putting this issue together spring had not yet sprung, the ground was still blanketed by a thick layer of snow and the mercury refused to budge. Bleak economic forecasts continue to hover. This year we need relief more than ever.

Our mission for this issue is to bring a little brightness to your day. Spring’s cheery palette inspires in our fashion section featuring colourful frocks for the upcoming wedding season. See how a spa-like escape is possible for a mere $5 investment in Spring Cleaning. Is anything more uplifting than a newborn baby? In Baby Love we honour two staff members with a dual baby shower full of sweet treats from local sources.

We are very excited to share another newcomer with you—Dish. A further expansion of our food section, Dish features fresh ideas for local ingredients, a speedy weekday dinner splashed with citrus and the best gadgets to help you get the job done. As always, we want you to be part of the fun—this time with your recipes. Enter your tried-and-true fresh tomato recipes on our Contests Page. One lucky winner will have their dish published in our Summer issue and will receive a Studio Publications cookbook prize package (and bragging rights, of course.)

We are also looking for nominations for our Winnipeg’s Most Beautiful Women contest. In its fourth year, the contest showcases local women who are the embodiment of true beauty in its many meanings. The five winners will be featured in our Summer issue and will be honoured at an amazing gala event in June. For more details or to ente, see our Contests Page.

We hope you enjoy this issue. If there is anything you’d like to see on our pages, send me an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
