Late spring has long been my favourite time of year. It is refreshing and reinvigorating, as the city sheds its wintry coat and the first spring rain cleans the dusty streets. Delicate shoots of green are sprouting up in our gardens. How could you not be inspired? It certainly inspired us at Winnipeg Women to think even more about our impact on our environment. In this issue, we bring you our favourite eco-friendly tips, products and services to help you reduce your carbon footprint. From
the natural foods mavens at Fresh Café to the up-cycling jewellery designers Carey and Cindy Roess, we are all trying to do our part and we are proud to say that the magazine you are holding is printed on 100 per cent recycled paper.

Nothing inspires my winter wardrobe more than a fresh batch of summer accessories. The girly hand-crafted jewellery in our fashion feature is just the thing to revive last year’s dresses and complement this year’s floral prints.

This issue also features the winners of our third annual Winnipeg’s Most Beautiful Women contest. All inspirations in their own right, the group of women who were chosen demonstrate the beauty in positivity, kindness and caring. We all enjoyed reading their remarkable stories and I know you will, too.

It has been a pleasure working on this first new issue. I hope you like it as much as we enjoyed producing it. I’d love to hear your comments—send me an email at lindsayduke@studiopublications.net.

Happy spring!
