 Well Read with Cherry Karpyshin
Cherry Karpyshin has been general manager at Prairie Theatre Exchange since 1992. She also mentors emerging theatre administrators from across the country and has sat on a number of boards, including the National Film Board, the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres and the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce. Here she shares her favourite reads, from the biographies of two recent presidential hopefuls, to a best-selling thriller.
French Women Don’t Get Fat: The Secret of Eating for Pleasure by Mireille Guiliano. I enjoyed this book and have recommended it to others to read. I do my reading at home or my favourite place is on the plane, when I’m away.
Leadership by Rudolph W. Giuliani. My favourite books are non-fiction, they’ve been a favourite since high school. I like reading and hearing about real people and books that speak about people skills, management, organization and planning. It’s partly because this is a large part of what I have done over the years working in theatre and what I do at PTE.
Living History by Hillary Rodham Clinton. I am currently reading this book and enjoy getting other people’s perspectives on how they work and how they tackle challenges. I usually don’t re-read books, however I do sometimes refer back to them.
The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. My most recent fiction novel was this book, which I thoroughly enjoyed due to its plot line and twists and turns.
