On May 7, the 2008 YWCA-YMCA Women of Distinction Awards were presented to nine women who are recognized for their contribution to their respective fields.

If only I had an Easy Bake oven then I would be happy, said my 6-year-old self.
If only I had a boyfriend, (with a car!) then I would be happy, said my 16-year-old self.
If only I could replace this terrible linoleum in the kitchen, then I would be happy, said my 26-year-old self.

Dear Winnipeg Women,
I was very moved by [last issue's article: P.S. You're Beautiful by Stephanie Staples]. Beauty does come from within, how you feel on the inside about yourself is reflected on the outside. Beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and cultures and is buried deep within your soul. As women we need to work harder at finding our own inner beauty and releasing it to the world. It is NOT something you buy.
Summer Reading
Simplify the book club experience with a Book Club Kit from the Winnipeg Public Library. Each kit comes complete with ten copies of your requested book, book reviews, suggested questions and tips for running a successful meeting, all packaged-up in a reusable tote. The only catch is the timing kits can't be reserved for specific dates and many of the popular titles have lengthy wait lists.
