Young female hockey players now have the opportunity to stay, compete and train in their home province, thanks to the Manitoba Maple Leafs. Recognizing that there are a limited number of options for female hockey players in Manitoba, the non-profit organization offers on-and off-ice training programs that can help players of any age and skill level. The team recently joined the Western Women’s Hockey League and also announced a new head coach, Jill Mathez, a member of the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame, as its newest addition for the 2010/2011 season. For a schedule of games and more information about the team, visit www.manitobamapleleafs.com.
