I JUST FINISHED READING:
Bernard Cornwell’s Warlord Trilogy (The Winter King, Enemy of God and Excalibur). Fans of the kinder, gentler Camelot will find it hard to recognize the Arthur of Disney’s Sword in the Stone or his wise and wizened mentor Merlin. No, author Cornwell seems to have plunged Camelot into the Dark Ages, where blood, guts and glory reign supreme along with every human vice imaginable–pride, envy, lust and–of course–a genuine and unending thirst for power. This very well-written and fast-paced retelling of the ancient legend makes for excellent reading.
