Well Read - with Connie Tamoto
Written by Staff

We're not sure how Connie Tamoto does it. Despite her busy schedule, the director of corporate communications and media relations for Economic Development Winnipeg/Tourism Winnipeg–and fashion columnist for the Winnipeg Free Press–still finds time to sit down with a good book. She took the time to fill us in on her book list.
I am reading:

is a must read for anyone who has ever worked at a newspaper. It starts off with the grisly discovery of a murder in the newsroom. The victim–the much-hated editor-in-chief; the weapon–a spike used in the old newspaper days to put "killed" stories on. The main character is on a mission to find out who the murderer is and fingers are pointing all around the newsroom. Problem is, each time they hone in on a suspect, they end up dead.
I am planning to read:
I love a good crime novel and one of my favourite series is the Women's Murder Club books by James Patterson. The books follow four friends–a reporter, detective, assistant D.A. and coroneras they solve murders using their keen wit and resources. The latest book in the series is The 9th Judgement. I can't wait to pick it up and cozy up with a cup of tea and a warm blanket on my sofa and delve into it this fall.
A favourite read:
One of my favourite reads is Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. This book chronicles the spiritual and emotional journey of Gilbert as she travels from Italy to India to Indonesia. This is a really uplifting book that I like to pick up every now and then to remind me life is precious and to savour every moment of it. It was also my inspiration for a recent trip to Italy!
