Renovations, not resolutions, that’s what this issue is all about. After all, a renovation is concrete, it’s manageable, and it results in a great finished project. Resolutions, however, are often just pipe dreams or wishful thinking. It’s the difference between resolving to fit your “skinny” jeans from 2001, or renovating your wardrobe and starting fresh with a new pair that is in style, actually fits and makes you feel great today.
This issue we look at shaking up and renewing all aspects of your life, from your makeup bag (yes you need to throw away eyeliner from the ’90s) to your kids’ fitness routine. We also talk to renovation enthusiasts like our cover girl Heather Bishop. An accomplished painter, singer and songwriter, Bishop is also a life long carpenter, who built her entire house in Southern Manitoba. We were lucky enough to spend the day exploring her gorgeous, eco-friendly home, busy workshop and unique straw bale house and are excited to share the photos from our day with you.
For further motivation to make the most of your 2008, we get recommendations on where to go from Winnipeg Free Press editor Margo Goodhand, what to read from MLA Erin Selby, and what to wear from Connie Hall of Peppertree Fashions.
We certainly enjoyed our newest project – our first every January/February issue – and hope you will too.
If you have any suggestions for upcoming issues, I would love to hear from you. Please feel free to send me an e-mail. Enjoy!
