It's in the Bag

It's in the Bag
We've upgraded our grocery bags from plastic to paper, then to reusable boxes and fabric totes. But with our plastic bag caddy hanging empty in the closet what's a green-minded pet owner when on scooping duty? Solving our dilemma are BioBags. These eco-plastic bags are made mostly from cornstarch a better alternative than paper. Paper may be recyclable and biodegradable, but their corny counterparts are easier on the environment to grow, manufacture and transport. They're fully compostable, too (after about a year or two in the compost bin). We like the kitchen waste size for pet-related tasks and the leaf and yard version for that never-ending pile of grass and garden clippings. The bags are admittedly a little on the thin side, so you may need to double up for trashing larger jobs.
BioBags are available at Aviva (52 Adelaide St) and Organza Market (230 Osborne St) or visit www.biobag.ca for more retailers.
