This past May, The Forks was named the country’s top public space by The Canadian Institute of Planners in its Great Places in Canada contest. Part of the contest’s criteria included promoting social and economic activities, having a memorable or unique character, having design or architectural features that are visually interesting, meeting different aspects of sustainability, being accessible by different modes of transportation, and reflecting local culture, history, and landscape. Congratulations!
